Auditions for Cathedral Choristers now underway

Choristers at the Cathedral of Christ the King play a huge role in Mullingar parish and auditions for budding new Choristers will take place this Wednesday (6 September) at 6pm.

The choristership experience is probably the best musical education available to boys between the ages of 8 and 13 years. It also offers the benefits of skills that will last a lifetime.

Performing to a highly professional standard, Choristers gain a natural self-confidence, as well as the appreciation of good time-keeping and the rewards that result from hard work and disciplined training, combined with a well-rounded social experience.

It is such a joy for us at the Cathedral to have the Choristers at our Sunday Masses. They are a hugely important part of our Cathedral. We are very proud of the Choristers and they are a unique choir in the Diocese of Meath.

Prior to the summer holidays, each Chorister is presented with a certificate of recognition by the Cathedral clergy.

Previous members of the Choristers include Bressie, Mark Irwin and several other local singers who have developed music careers in Ireland and internationally.
