Appeal for victims of Philippine typhoon

Parishioners in Mullingar are shocked and horrified by the devastation in The Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.    As the number of deaths remains unclear, it is estimated that over 600,000 people are left without food and shelter.

Mullingar parish is eager to play its part in the international response.  We have two ways of responding:

  1. A national appeal is taking place in all churches this weekend.  Parishioners can leave donations in the Cathedral's permanent Trocaire box or at the parish office.  These donations will be added to contributions from all parishes and sent straightaway to the Caritas relief agency in The Philippines.  Donations will be used to provide food, water, medical supplies and shelter.
  2. We want to contact people from the affected regions of The Philippines who are now living or working in Mullingar.  If you are from The Philippines or you know someone from the affected areas, please contact us on FB or at cathedral@dioceseofmeath.ie.  We would like to hear from you as part of our preparations for the parish appeal this weekend.
