New garden and the sun shines
The grounds of the Cathedral of Christ the King has received a new garden. Undertaken to mark the Year of Faith, which explores the faith heritage of the local community, the garden recalls the monks from the Medieval Augustinian Friary who made the arduous "camino" from Mullingar to Santiago de Compostela in the 1300s.
Bishop Smith has invited the Archbishop of Compostela to Mullingar and the Archbishop has accepted the invitation to visit in August. On that occasion, the Archbishop of Compostela will bless and open the new Camino Garden.
On Saturday 27 July a "camino" walk will talk place from the Abbey at Fore in County Westmeath to the Cathedral of Christ the King. The distance of 22 KM represents a day's walk on the Spanish "camino". Further details are available from the parish office and on the parish Facebook page.
