Renewing marriage after 25 years

St Paul's Church celebrates its Silver Jubilee this year.  To mark the occasion, couples who were married in Mullingar 25 years ago renewed their vows in a ceremony in St Paul's Church on Sunday 27 May.

Speaking at the Mass, Stephen Cummins from Accord gave a reflection on the place of marriage in the community.  Stephen emphasised the importance which the Church places on marriage by recognising it as one of the seven sacraments.  This means that marriage is one of the ways in which Christ is at work in our community.

"All of us are witnesses to marriage", Stephen told the congregation. "We can start by working on our own marriages and giving support to other married couples in our community.  As St John tells us, God is love and those who live in love live in God".

Three of the couples taking part in the ceremony pictured above included Kevin and Noreen Deegan (who were the first couple to be married in St Paul's Church in 1987), James and Patricia Ennis, as well as Pat and Nicola Gavin.
