Congress comes to Mullingar

Sunday next is a big day for Mullingar. An outdoor Mass will be celebrated in Pearse Street (outside the Greville Arms). It will begin at 11am. A procession involving Mullingar town Band, Cathedral Choir and Choristers, Gospel Choir, priests and people will process after the Mass from the altar at Pearse Street to the Cathedral for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. We ask all shops and buildings along the route especially to put out flags, bunting and whatever decoration you can to show that our spirit is alive and welcoming.

Parishioners should note that there is no 11am or 12.30 Mass in the Cathedral next Sunday. Masses will take place as normal in St Paul's and the country churches. People coming to the Outdoor Mass can park in the Cathedral grounds or any of the Council car parks around town. You are welcome to bring your own seats to the Mass should you require one. No seating will be provided.

First communion children and their families have received a letter inviting them to the Mass. The children are welcome to wear their communion clothes and they will receive a prayer card in commemoration of the occasion.

A practice for the Mass will take place on Tuesday evening next in the Cathedral at 7pm. Ministers of the Eucharist, Readers and Stewards on the June ministry rota for the 11am and 12.30pm Mass are asked to attend this practice. Any parishioners willing to help on Sunday next are also asked to come to the practice on Tuesday evening.

These are some photos of pupils in St Colmans NS getting ready for the Congress Mass.  Many thanks to Ms Healy, Mrs Garvey and all the teachers in our schools for their help.
