Curraghmore children prepare for First Confession

Excitement is building for the second class pupils in Curraghmore NS who will receive First Confession during Lent.  They will celebrate First Communion Day in May.

Last Sunday, the children took part in a "Do this in memory" ceremony at St Paul's Church.  The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Smith.  Navan catechist Sr Consilio Rock gave a reflection on the importance of the Sacrament of Confession.  The focus on confession was arranged with the Season of Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday this week.  Fr Michael Kilmartin CC, Chair of the Board of Management in Curraghmore NS concelebrated the Mass.

Throughout 2012, St Paul's Church will be marking the 25th anniversary of its opening.  A programme of events for the Silver Jubilee puts the spotlight on the celebration of the seven sacraments.  In January, the parish welcomed back families who had celebrated baptisms in St Paul's Churchover the past 25 years.  The focus this month is on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Next month, Bishop Smith will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for the first time in many years at St Paul's Church.  The other sacraments - Matrimony, Ordination, Eucharist and Anointing - will be part of the Jubilee celebrations in the months ahead.
