What is the Eucharistic Congress?
The Liturgy Team meeting this week looked at ways for the parish to take part in the International Eucharistic Congress. The main point raised at the meeting is that every effort should be made to let people know what this event is all about.
The International Eucharistic Congress is a week-long event which will be held in Dublin on 10 - 17 June. The first six days will take place at the RDS. Each day of the week has a particular theme and the programme for each day will centre on that theme. For example, Tuesday 12 June will be Family Day. There will be talks and workshops throughout the arena, looking at how the Eucharist can enrich marriage and family life. The following day, the theme will address priesthood and ministry. On Thursday 14 June, the focus will be on Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Click here for the full listing of Congress events. The Congress will end on Sunday 17 June with Mass in Croke Park.
Mullingar Parish is keen to take an active part in the Congress. It is a chance for us to deepen our faith in the Eucharist and to celebrate this faith with people from home and much further afield who will come to Ireland for the event.
In advance of Congress, the Eucharist will be the focus of our parish celebrations from now until the end of June. Lent, Easter, First Holy Communions and so forth will all centre on "Unity in Christ and with one another in the Eucharist".
